The President of Pakistan is Head of State of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Pakistan has a semi-presidential system of government. The semi-presidential system is a system of government in which both prime minister and president are active members in the administration of the state. According to the Constitution, the President is chosen by an electoral college to serve a five-year term. The Electoral College includes the Senate, National Assembly and the provincial assemblies which choose the president of Pakistan. The President may be elected but may not serve for more than two consecutive terms. The president may also be incriminate and subsequently removed from office by a majority of two-thirds vote by the Parliament. The President appoints the governors of the provinces and justices of Supreme Court. The president also has the power to dissolve the national assembly & provinces assemblies and announce the new election.

There is no seat of vice president in Pakistan in the absence of the President when president not in the country the chairman of the Senate take oath as president till president will come back in the country.

According to the constitution of Pakistan 1973 the position of President in Pakistan has traditionally been one of a figurehead, with actual powers lying with the prime minister. However, at various times in history, often related with military coups and the subsequent return of civilian governments, changes in the Constitution of Pakistan have altered the powers and privileges associated with the office of the President. The current constitution gives the President reserves powers - subject to Supreme Court approval or veto - to dissolve the National Assembly of Pakistan, triggering new elections, and thereby to dismiss the Prime Minister. The President also chairs the National Security Council and appoints the heads of the Army, Navy and Air Force.
